We’re big fans of BMW’s X5 SUV and were happy to oblige when we were asked to tune this 2014 3.0d. This model has the Bosch EDC17CP11 ECU fitted and we have to tune this on the bench. This requires removal of the ECU and careful opening before we make direct connections to the main board to unlock the BMW anti tune protection. ON this ECU we used a genuine Alientech K-Tag tuning tool. We don’t take risks by using cloned Chinese copies.This is a complex procedure which should only be carried out by a trained professional technician. Our tech is fully accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry. We spoke to the owner just a few days ago and he’s still totally impressed with his tuned X5 and reported great fuel savings of approximately 6 MPG.
