We went to tune this Mercedes E Class E320 CDi on Wednesday as the customer was driving to Scotland the following day and was towing a caravan. This is a large, heavy car with a decent power output already but we knew we could make some healthy improvements. This car is fitted with a Bosch¬†EDC16C31 ECU and we’re able to remap the car via the onboard diagnostic port. We supported the car battery using an MXS25 battery support unit to keep a constant voltage to the ECU. If the voltage gets below 12v this could result in the ECU being damaged. We also performed a full system diagnostic check. For this vehicle we used a Genuine Alientech Kess V2. We made a back up of the ECU data, uploaded it to out tuner’s portal and within 30 minutes Stuart, our expert tuner had modified the data. We uploaded this back to the ECU and then carried out a full diagnostic scan¬†again. Our customer took the car for a good road test and came back smiling. He reported that the car had in particular felt stronger lower down the rev range. Another happy customer.
